lyrics
The essence of our worldly vessels, imaginary. Everlasting life is the gift for the antiquary. Methodologies of the mystic—hereditary power in the mind of receptive believers in the ancient and occult, the eternal. The rituals and rites performed at night by the faithful imbue a certain clarity of sight and a purpose: The right to possess insights into questions proposed by the first ones to look up in fear and awe at the sky.
Jet black window into the beyond. An all-engulfing will to know the secrets of the stars. To pull back the devil’s mask and look in his eye. We’ll never solve the riddle of death if we never try.
With these holy lines we enchant the land, and draw our spirits’ pathways in the sand. And by our blood, we purify, to join our brethren in the sky.
Tied to a tree in the heart of the forest, bride you will be to the Lord of the Harvest.
Knife cuts your throat, make you bleed into the chalice. I watch you die to release ancient
malice.
Eat of the flesh to possess knowledge of the ones before us and rejoice in the blood of the young to restore us.
Can’t you see your mind is a prison, won’t you break the chains? In
darkness you will find unholy wisdom.

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka

If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse
